Healthy Brownie Batter Shake

Ok, so for my post today I chose to re-do the brownie batter photos, because they didn't turn out quite so great. Enjoy the new ones!

When I took my first spoonful of this smoothie, I had deja vu. It was just like when I made my first post, the cake batter breakfast pudding, when I took the first bite and said to myself, hey, this actually tastes like cake batter!

Except this time it was with brownie batter!

I was really surprised. Ooh, I forgot to tell you, there's a yummy secret ingredient: Avocado! Don't worry, you can't even taste it. Just like that one time I was trying to make caramel brownies so I stirred caramel toffee pieces into the batter and didn't even realize they were in there... sadness. :(

I highly recommend eating this smoothie with a healthy mug brownie like in the photo. If you've never tried one it's so easy; all you do is stir all the ingredients together in a mug and microwave it for 2 minutes! You could even stir some mug-brownie bits into the smoothie like I did... yummers!

Healthy Brownie Batter Shake

  • 1/3-1/2 cup almond milk
  • 1/4 cup mashed avocado (1/3 of a full fruit)
  • 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp Hershey's special dark cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • stevia, to taste
  • 4-6 ice cubes (I froze almond milk into cubes as to not dilute the flavor)
Blend all ingredients in a blender (I used a Vitamix). Eat immediately or pour into a glass and freeze for up to 30 minutes for a frosty, milkshake-like texture.
